Get Ready for Your January 2026 Trip to Orlando: Magic Awaits!

Thinking about a trip to Orlando in January 2026? January 2026 will be an ideal time for a trip to Orlando, especially for those looking to visit the Disney parks and other attractions. This is the perfect time to hit up the famous Disney parks, especially if you want to extend those New Year celebrations. Orlando is buzzing with excitement, and there’s so much to see and do.

Why You’ll Love Orlando in January 2026

  • Quieter Disney Parks: After January 5th, the parks tend to calm down a bit. That means fewer lines and more time for fun with the family!
  • Last Bit of Holiday Cheer: Enjoy the festive decorations and activities before they come down for the season!
  • Awesome Deals: January is the time to snag some great discounts at stores, malls, and outlets around Orlando. Perfect for picking up those must-have souvenirs!
  • Budget-Friendly Stays: Hotel prices drop in January, so you can find some great accommodations without breaking the bank.
  • Fun Events: Check out the NBA games happening in Orlando, and don’t miss the International Festival of the Arts at Epcot (dates for 2026 have not yet been announced). Plus, the Disney Marathon adds to the excitement of your trip and will be taking place January 7-11, 2026.

Things to Keep in Mind for Your Orlando Trip in January 2026

  • Christmas Decorations: If you're in Orlando at the beginning of January, you can still enjoy the beautiful Christmas decorations that will be up until January 6th in most parks. It’s a great chance to soak in the festive spirit, especially at Magic Kingdom, where the holiday decor is always stunning.
  • Holiday Crowds: The Martin Luther King holiday (the third Monday of January) can bring in more visitors, so plan your Orlando visit wisely to avoid the busiest times.
  • Dress for the Weather: Orlando can get chilly in January. Be sure to pack warm jackets, gloves, and hats to stay comfortable during your trip.
  • Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend: January also hosts the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which is the annual Disney marathon event. Athletes from around the globe gather for this exciting series of races throughout the Disney complex. Disney generally opens registration in April of the previous year. If you’re into running or want to cheer on participants, be sure to check the marathon routes for those event days.
  • NBA Basketball Game: If you’re in Orlando in January, don’t miss the chance to catch an Orlando Magic basketball game! It’s a fun experience, even for those who aren’t big basketball fans.
  • Florida Cup: The Florida Cup is a thrilling soccer tournament featuring teams from around the world. It kicks off every January and you can find the exact dates and more details here.
  • Rock the Universe: Universal Orlando hosts an awesome gospel music festival called Rock the Universe, happening on January 23 and 24, 2026. It’s a fantastic event filled with uplifting performances and great vibes!

Attractions Closed for Renovation

Since January is the low season in the U.S., it's not unusual to find some attractions undergoing maintenance or renovations. This often happens with rides that can’t close during the busier summer months, especially the water attractions.

Planning Your  Restaurant Reservations for January 2026 Trip to Orlando
